The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Health Organisation (WHO) define food security as a situation where ‘all people, at all times, have physical social and economic access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food to maintain a healthy and
active life.’ For Mirova, any interpretation of this concept in light of investing involves the additional dimension of sustainability: ensuring that the conditions necessary to produce foodstuffs do not deteriorate and jeopardise the food security of future generations.
